Beautiful Agony

  Some people have an easy life, so we think. But do we really know what lives in their heart? Did you ever wonder why some people seem to experience tragedy at every turn, while others appear to breeze through life with barely a care?  One may be tempted to think, what have those people done in life to deserve such angst? Is God punishing them for a grievous sin? Honestly, they never seem to catch a break.  When I look at those who suffer, I see the face of God. His enduring and unbridled love surrounds their eyes like rich pools of a perfect sea. I have had many challenges in my life, and I can say at this point in my faith, I feel closer to God in my agony than in my joy. I know he is beckoning me to come closer to Him in those times, wanting me to take in His word and His love, like food for a starving soul. And through that prayer, I am able to show His love to the world.  I have been making more of an effort to thank God every day for the beauty he surrounds me with. His subtle s

  Sometimes when two become fractured, one is a very lonely number. One of Two I am one of two, yet two were meant to be one. Fractured hearts breathe but loneliness. The air in my lungs diminished. My eyes turned blind by  indifference. Like walking a forest without a path. Standing in the rain,  mourning the sun. I need the second to complete my one. 

The Sacred Puddle

  Sometimes the ordinary disguises the beauty of the extraordinary. God's subtle messages to our heart.  Her raven hair flirted effortlessly with the wind. Perched upon her toddler feet were yellow rain boots, as she carefully held her tiny umbrella. Her other hand was being held by her mother as she tried ushering in her brother to cross the street in safety. I sat at the stop sign watching this all unfold, taken in by the memory of when my own children were young. The pretentious grade schooler waved me to go, but I insisted they go first. As the young boy placed his foot off the curb, his younger sister broke free from her mother's grip and jumped gloriously into a large puddle. Her face painted a sense of satisfaction. I laughed, having seen that coming from a mile away. The frazzled mother re-took the toddlers hand, and as she glanced at me, you could see she was holding back the laughter, wanting to teach her little girl a lesson from their expedition.
